The department worked with the North Dakota Human Trafficking Task Force on an undercover operation targeting people attempting to engage in sexual activity with minors, according to a police news release. The department placed advertisements on several websites used to solicit commercial sex.
Over 60 people responded to the advertisements over a period of six hours, the department said. Three men — Kalcey Reid Wike, 46, of West Fargo, Christopher Dane Daggett, 26, of Moorhead and Jeffrey James Wold, 58, of Fargo — were arrested after taking what the department termed "substantial steps to meet with a minor for sex at a local hotel," according to police.
Daggett, who was charged Thursday in Cass County District Court, responded to the advertisement and chatted online with an undercover officer, according to court documents.
In the chat, Daggett agreed to a meeting with a person knowing she was a minor and that "she shouldn't be posting online," court documents said. Daggett also agreed to bring condoms but first suggested the two engage in other sorts of sexual activities, court documents said. Prices for the sexual acts were also discussed. Daggett admitted to going to the Candlewood Suites at 17th Ave. He admitted to "having issues with his wife" and "looking for some company," according to a police report.
Daggett also said that he was not there for sex; however, sex was implied, police said. Daggett also said he probably would not have gone through with it and left some of the money somewhere else, according to the report. Trending Articles.
